Georgian Bay kayaking offers paddlers a unique opportunity to enjoy the open waters of this kayaker's paradise. The pristine blue water is speckled with thousands of granite islands of various sizes, known as the Thirty Thousand Islands that form a protective maze for paddlers. Very little soil and vegetation can be found along the coastline, apart from ancient, gnarled, wind-twisted trees. Spectacular sunsets, windswept islands and beautiful camping areas make the Georgian Bay the best place to escape from the rush and become one with nature.
Almost as large as Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay measures approximately 190 kilometres long and 80 kilometres wide. The bay covers around 15,000 square kilometres. Sometimes referred to as the "sixth Great Lake", Georgian Bay is home to Manitoulin Island, the largest island on a freshwater lake in the world. This picturesque area inspired many artists, including Tom Thomson who painted a piece known as Pine Island, Georgian Bay.

Georgian Bay Kayaking is Suitable for Various Levels of Experience
The waters are easy for kayakers with some kayaking experience. Although there are thousands of inlets, there is no white water; however, experienced paddlers may steer towards the less sheltered channels where there are open crossings that lead to distant islands and open bays.
